Happy 6 month birthday Nathaniel!
His name is Nate, he’s super great.
Even late, he is still super duper great.
That is our song – I made it up in the hospital and it never fails to make you smile. You rarely get upset but when you do you always stop fussing when I sing the song and give me one of your great big smiles. You really are super great.
You are reaching milestones early; the pattern appears to be a week before a monthly birthday you do something spectacular. A week before your 1 month you smiled, before your 3 month you rolled over and a week prior to 6 months you started crawling. Now today you pulled yourself up into a standing position in the bassinet part of the Pack & Play. You are really on the go; you want to sit straight up but are still tumbling over when you do it independently. Any minute now you will master it but for now you are content to go after whatever catches your eye on the other side of the room, usually your sister’s books. You love books, sometimes you just look but mostly you try to eat them, that’s OK, we have lots of time to learn proper respect for other things.
Everyone comments on what a happy baby you are. I call it flirting; you bat your eyelashes and light up with the biggest smile whenever anyone (usually women) pays any attention to you. You laugh and kick and grin, it makes the person on the receiving end positively glow. What a charmer! Your favorite person has to be Annabelle, you just light up when you see or hear her. She is warming up to you too and does not complain when you grab a handful of her hair.
We will start you eating solid foods this week after we see the doctor, I think you are ready; you love to sit at the table with us now. I can only imagine what size you will be after you start getting fruits/vegetables into you. You have always been big for your age (the nurses in the delivery room called you “the toddler”), going through 3 size clothes by the time you were 5 months, and now some of that is getting snug. You are healthy and strong, that is all that matters. Your first word is Da-da-da; you love to say it over and over, especially in the car. It puffs your Father up every time.
So my sweet boy I am wishing you the most wonderful of ½ birthdays, we are going to get pictures taken tomorrow morning and then doctor in the afternoon (sorry). Know how very much you are loved and how complete our little family feels now that you are here.
With so much love,
Mum
PS – Please start sleeping through the night. Thank you.

I wonder if he will be an early talker like Annabelle. I cannot WAIT to hear the conversations that will take place between those two.
Too cute!
Happy 1/2 Birthday Nate!!
ok, I think you mentioned him crawling before but somehow I did not realize that he has started crawling at the age of FIVE months! That is crazy early! He is such an adorable little guy, Kristen, he really is.
