I realize that Easter is so over.
Consider this my way of holding the holiday spirit over a few weeks.
Truth is I have been overwhelmingly busy with work, home and just life and am now just getting to this. But this is important to me to add to our Yearbook, as I am now thinking of the blog. (Note to self: Get blog printed for 2008 & 2009)
1. Good Friday we went to the mall to ride the Easter train. This made Nate unbelievably happy; he so very loves his trains. The first trip around I rode with him, afraid he would try to climb out once it got moving. I was pleasantly surprised to find the only thing that thrilled him more than sitting in the train was riding in the train. He was all smiles the entire time.
2. Second trip around Nate rode with his sister, much to Annabelle’s chagrin. After much convincing and a few tears she agreed to ride in the caboose with him.
3. On Saturday Annabelle & I colored Easter eggs. I was reminded once again that egg dye does not come off of skin easily or quickly. We both ended up going to church the next day with dyed fingers and Annabelle with a lovely blue slash across her cheek. It was worth it though to create our “masterpieces” as Annabelle referred to our eggs. (Fancy Nancy influence)
4. Easter morning Nate found his basket hidden in his tent. It contained a stuffed Mickey Mouse which he immediately picked up and gave a big kiss right on the nose.
5. Annabelle found hers under the “auxiliary” table in the dining room. (it is just a card table we put up for parties & holidays to hold extra food). She put on her new Princess bucket hat and started reading her Fancy Nancy book right away. Then she wanted M &M’s for breakfast which is allowed on Easter only.
6. Later in the afternoon when our company arrived we had an Easter egg hunt out in the yard. Every time Annabelle found one she would hold it up and announce “Ta-da!”
7. Then Nate would take off for the driveway and pick up a rock, hold it up and announce “Rock, Ta-Da!” I don’t think he picked up one egg but had a whole collection of rocks, Charlie Brown style.
8. My sister Karen wore her annual bunny ears all day. She loves holidays and really goes out of her way to make them special for the kids. The twins are in their mid-twenties but still act mortified, although I think they are beginning to appreciate her enthusiasm. As my Mom always says “she is embarrassing but she’s ours”
