Dear Nate,
Happy 4th Birthday Batman! Or Spiderman, or Robin, whoever you are at this moment. You always are putting on a “play”, which mostly consists of us calling each other whatever name you assigned us and running around. There was a shift sometime early fall from the little boy with the trains to the young man in love with all things superhero. You love to fight the bad guys and the lesson we always reinforce is “superheroes never use guns, and they always win”. Keeping you a peaceful soul is going to be enough of a struggle in this world without encouraging unnecessary violence.
You started Preschool at Keystone Montessori this past fall and you love it. Your response to how was your day is always “great”. You have made some friends, learned about our world and found some independence. You potty trained this year too, last year back in February seems like such a long time ago but it was a hard fought battle. Thank goodness for patient Daddy.
You still love your comfy cozy pillow and carry it around with you as much as you can. This past summer we went to an amusement park and you had to opportunity to meet Linus, your soul mate in terms of loveys. You told him all about pillow and he let you snuggle his blanket. It is one of those memories I will always hold in my heart, my sweet boy.
You are a master puzzle builder, with a Nate twist. Instead of laying all the pieces out you leave them in the box taking one piece out at a time to examine and either fit in or throw back. It’s not conventional but works for you. You love Angry Birds, both on the iPad and stacking them up in the living room with one of your 2 different play sets. You started to learn to swim this past summer, you are getting there and at least do not have a fear of the water anymore. The trampoline, you *love* the trampoline. Unfortunately we lost ours at the end of this past summer in a microburst that landed it in a tree. We promised you a new one in the spring and will deliver as soon as the weather breaks. Promise.
Boy you can eat, what you like. You are still not adventurous with food sticking to the things you love. Cheeseburgers, nuggets, pizza, jelly sandwiches, broccoli. We are having your party at Seabase as per your request with some of your very favorite people.
I am so grateful to have a healthy, happy boy who runs and jumps and loves like you.
Know we love you to the moon and back. Happy Birthday Noodle.
With all my love,
Mommy
