Dance Recital 2012

Annabelle participated in 3 numbers this year. Tumble, Ballet & Tap.

Tumble was a semi rap version of "Itsy Bitsy Spider", very funky and fun.

Ballet was a beautiful lullaby version of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" by Jewel. Annabelle liked it so much we bought the whole CD that she listens to every night as she goes to sleep.

Tap was (my favorite) "Like a Duck" from the Philadelphia Chickens CD. Very cool and the shaking of the tail feathers was over the top cuteness.

None of the nervous jitters we both had last year. It was fun and Annabelle was proud to be on stage showcasing the progress she had made this year.

Diva!

I tried to do Annabelle's hair, first for pictures, then for dress rehearsal. While it looked great for an hour it quickly fell and we lost the "curly bigness" that was required of the dancers.

So Friday before the recital we went to the salon and hired the experts. Annabelle was quite the princess sitting for an hour getting her hair curled and sprayed.

Next year will be a tight bun, I think we'll be able to manage that better.

Idlewild, visit 1 - 2012

Nate *loved* the flying dragons this year. Thankfully no standing up issues to report.
Confident enough to ride the airplanes.
Thomas stage show!
Nate was completely enthralled, as I suspected he would be. (also, could he be any more Tom’s mini-me?)
As always, we finished up on the Merry-Go-Round
Nate was so proud to get his own up & down horse this year.
We ALL rode. 65 degrees and sunny, couldn’t have been a better day at the park.

Memorial Day Tradition

We observed our annual Memorial Day tradition of going to Grandma Joyce’s house and walking over to the parade. It was an extra sunny day so Grandma Joyce was kind enough to lend Annabelle her sun hat. The parade was the usual fire trucks, bands, groups. We were lucky enough to sit back this year and NOT in a spot where the fire trucks blow the horns.
We walked down and met Aunt June when the parade was over.
Then back for a picnic of The Grill’s chicken on Grandma Joyce’s porch. The kids are always thrilled to spend time with both Grandmas and we are equally as excited for an awesome lunch. Next year Aunt Stacie is coming home to join us (she doesn’t know this yet, but she is).

Visit with Jenny

Jenny came home for Memorial Day weekend. She went out to lunch with us after church and then we visited at her house. The kids were thrilled to open their birthday presents.
and play games.
and read books.

Can we swim please?

We have been hearing this daily for about a month, finally, finally we had a warm day on May 20. We got out the little pool and the kids had a blast.

Days like this, amid the giggles and laughter, I look skyward and give thanks.
